HI-Skills Launches Major Recruitment Drive as Training Delivery Nears

Training Jobs Inverness: HI-Skills Is Hiring CPCS, IRATA, GWO & CISRS Trainers

Roles now open as HI-Skills builds out its training offer for the Highlands & Islands

HI-Skills is growing. As plans progress towards establishing the National Infrastructure Skills Centre at Torvean, Inverness, we’re recruiting the trainers, coordinators and leaders who will help shape it so we can get started delivering training now and pump-prime the workforce needed for more than 250 transformational projects worth over £100 billion across the Highlands and Islands.

This is the team that will shape how a generation of plant operators, rope access technicians, wind turbine technicians, scaffolders and more will enter the industry, safely and skilfully.

CPCS Plant Trainer Jobs

We’re looking for competent CPCS-accredited trainers to deliver plant operator training across excavators, dumpers, telehandlers, rollers and more. Strong plant operating background across civils, groundworks or construction essential.

Trainee Plant Trainer Jobs

An entry route into training for experienced, competent plant operators ready to start coaching others. You’ll shadow qualified CPCS Plant Trainers while working towards your own instructor accreditation.

IRATA Rope Access Instructor Jobs

Deliver IRATA Level 1–3 training, assessments and rescue procedures for learners heading into safety-critical careers across construction, renewables and industrial sectors. Current IRATA Level 3 Instructor/Assessor certification required.

GWO Instructor Jobs

Deliver Global Wind Organisation Basic Safety Training – Working at Heights, First Aid, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness and Sea Survival — to the next generation of wind turbine technicians. Background in wind energy, offshore or renewables training preferred.

CISRS Scaffolding Trainer Jobs

Deliver CISRS-accredited scaffolding training across basic, advanced and supervisory levels. Strong scaffolding background across construction or industrial sectors required, with current or achievable CISRS Instructor accreditation.

Business & Operations Roles

Alongside our training delivery team, we’re also hiring for the roles that keep everything running:

  • Bookings Administrator – first point of contact for learners and employers, managing scheduling, enquiries and CRM records
  • Business Development Manager (Construction Training, Scotland) – building employer partnerships across construction, civil engineering, renewables and infrastructure, and connecting learners with live job opportunities
  • Training Programme Co-ordinator – planning and coordinating our growing apprenticeship and short course calendar
  • Training Centre Manager, Highlands – leading day-to-day operations, compliance and staff performance across the training team

The Highlands and Islands face a well-documented infrastructure skills gap, at exactly the moment the region needs to deliver some of the largest energy, construction and civil engineering projects in its history. HI-Skills exists to close that gap — not with promises, but with accredited training, hands-on facilities, and a safety-first culture built into everything we do.
